1. Ukraine is fighting for the world

The recent statements of Dmitry Medvedev, former President of Russia and a staunch ally of Vladimir Putin, are shocking. Medwedew threatened in Telegram an extension from Lisbon to Vladivostok.

What does that mean?

hitler russian flag

Hitlers dream of extending Germany to the east was exactly the opposite thing as Russia is dreaming of now. Extending Russia to the West. Do not daydream. Next are the Baltic states, Poland and other east-European countries.

Look, compare Putins arguments against Hitlers, e.g. when Hitler occupied huge areas of Czechoslovakia.

What did he say at the NSDAP Congress 1938?

“I am asking neither that Germany be allowed to oppress three and a half million Frenchmen, nor am I asking that three and a half million Englishmen be placed at our mercy. Rather I am simply demanding that the oppression of three and a half million Germans in Czechoslovakia cease and that the inalienable right to self-determination take its place.

Nato Flag

You say: "But Nato is at fault, they extended their territory closer and closer towards Russian borders".

There are those falling for Russian and Chinese propaganda saying that NATO expanded east after the fall of the Soviet Union.

Look, NATO can not just expand to any country. It almost indicates that they forcefully integrated the countries of the former Warszaw Pact.

Nothing could be further from the truth. How could they practically have done a forceful integration of these countries into NATO? As a matter of fact almost all of the East European countries suffered under decades of the Soviet occupation. After the second world war the Soviet Union installed puppet regimes in all these East European countries. Repeatedly the Soviets deployed troops to countries where citizens were uprising against Russian occupation. People in Eastern Europe knew that the standard of living in the West, in NATO countries was a lot better. So they tried from time to time to no success. Only 1989 the Communist regimes in all of these Eastern European countries collapsed. They freed themselves from the enforce and never wanted Russian occupation.

Now, what was just the logical next step? Not everyone in Russia was happy about what was going on, about losing power over so many nations. Many in Russia promised they would be back to integrate these countries again into a Russian Empire. So, the most east-European countries rushed to apply for NATO membership. They voluntarily decided that it would be better to join the former rival. Freedom and economic advantages made it no question. The only way to protect themselves as good as possible from Russian aggression was to become members of NATO.

Finland Sweden

You do not believe all of this? Just look at Sweden and Finland now, in April/May 2022. Only after Putin attacked Ukraine a majority of the citizens of these both countries changed their minds towards joining NATO. For decades they thought Russia would be peaceful, would integrate into a successful country copying the West. Now, in 2022, they woke up. Had to bury the dreams of permanent peace and safety. Especially for Finland this is important, they have been brutally attacked by Russia once. And once is enough.
